Roque del Conde

Highlights

Starting in the mountain town of Arona in the south of the island, we begin our weeks walking by talking one of the most prominent summits on the south coast, Roque del Conde (1,005m).

Whilst far from the highest summit on the island Roque del Conde towers over the coastal resorts of Los Cristianos and Playa de Las Americas and is without doubt the most dominant geographical feature on the landscape as viewed from the hotels below.

Our ascent gives us a glimpse of the regions agrarian past as we pass by abandoned farm-fields and ruined cottages. The climb is steep, but well paced and from the summit we are afforded excellent views of the south coast and the neighbouring island of La Gomera.

Whilst experienced walkers will finish ascend and descend inside of 3 hours, a more leisurely pace will provide novice walkers with a rewarding day out and an excellent opportunity to learn more about the history of the area and if visiting in the right season a chance to pick and eat several varieties of wild fruit as you make your way up.

Distance 6km | Ascent/ Descent 450m
