Walking Holidays in TenerifeDay #1 – Paisaje Lunar (Lunar Landscape)

We start with a walk out to the East of Vilaflor, into the pine forests and across wild valleys and ravines ascending some 300 metres up the foothills of the Las Cañadas ridge. Our objective is nestled in an untouched valley, where we find a spectacular pumice formation which has been cut by wind and rain, to create what some describe as a bit of moonscape here on Earth.

Walking Holidays in TenerifeDay #2 –Roque del Conde (1,005m)

Beginning in the town of Arona, we head west to tackle an ascent of dominant peak of the south coast, Roque del Conde. This mountain towers over the resorts of Los Cristianos & Playa de Las Americas, appearing to have a flat “table-top” summit. From here we take a coastal walk through the Malpais de la Rasca nature reserve, passing a light house and banana plantations before arriving in Las Galletas for lunch where we enjoy freshly caught fish or a seafood platter.

Our descent is via an old goat-herder trail which leads us into a remote mountain pass, we follow a wild track down the valley and back towards Vilaflor.

Along the way we are afforded excellent views and glimpses of the area’s agricultural past. From Ifonche we delve into the pine forests and around the back of the famous Barranco del Infierno (Hell’s Canyon), before emerging on the hillside on the far side of Adeje.
